“Beautiful and clear-eyed, this book clears out the rubble of our culture’s baggage about motherhood to make room for a kinder, more honest account of love in all its forms.”

Hey. I’m Erin Lane.

I’m a forty-something author, theologian, and vocational facilitator. My latest book, Someone Other Than a Mother, is about tearing up the social scripts—you know, the ones that say a woman’s highest purpose is hiding in her reproductive role—and rewriting a life well-lived. Hint: It’s astonishing and satisfying, and there are gobs of us already doing it.

“Erin is a thoughtful and talented writer whose words have a way of meeting readers in the center of their own journeys, while challenging them to new, transformative perspectives.”

Enuma Okoro, bestselling author of
Common Prayer: A Liturgy for Ordinary Radicals
